Welcome to the Waikanae Bridge Club

Welcome to our Club where visitors and non-members are invited to enjoy our facilities and participate in any of our playing sessions.

Our membership is around 179 and we are affiliated to NZ Bridge (Inc). At 27b Elizabeth Street, our clubhouse is situated very close to the Waikanae shopping centre and we offer a friendly atmosphere.

Table Fee: $5.00 cash or $50 for a 12 session ticket

Players are requested to be seated 10 minutes prior to start time.

Annual Member’s Subscription $65.

Our rooms are available for hire for social events and for community group activities. Please contact the Club Secretary.

Our beginnings

The Waikanae Bridge Club was inaugurated on 14th March, 1974 and play commenced in the Masonic Hall on Monday nights. By the year end the membership had grown to 85 and the Club leased the Girls’ Life Brigade Hall to accommodate the increased membership.

After several further shifts to rooms in the Waikanae area the Club arranged for a lease of land at 27B Elizabeth Street from the Council. A suitable building for the Club was erected. Opening of these new Clubrooms was celebrated on Saturday, 9th May, 1987 with proceedings introduced by the then President, Mrs Pat Sutton.
